A Northampton Borough man is accused of breaking his mother’s garage door while threatening to kill her.
Charged is John Nicholas Carone Jr., 26, of the 2200 block of Washington Avenue.
Pennsylvania State Police in Bethlehem at 3:07 p.m. Monday were called to the 5300 block of Nor Bath Boulevard in East Allen Township for a report of a black Volkswagon Jetta in the back yard and a male trying to break into the garage.
The female victim told police she received a phone call from her husband saying their son was on his way over and he allegedly said, “she would get it” and he wanted to kill her.
The mother then saw Carone’s Volkswagon pull into the back yard from her kitchen window and heard glass shatter from the garage door. Police said the victim was terrified, locked herself in a room and called 911. She reported Carone banging on the door, but he couldn’t get in due to the door being locked.
Carone fled by the time troopers arrived. Police then went to Carone’s home and a trooper felt the Volkswagon to determine it was hot and recently been driven. Carone initially denied being at his mother’s house, but later allegedly admitted to the crime.
Carone is charged with making terroristic threats, burglary, criminal mischief and driving with a suspended license. He was arraigned Monday before District Judge Nancy Matos-Gonzalez, who set bail at $100,000.
In lieu of bail, Carone was taken to Northampton County Prison.
