NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio — The only thing soft about Bruster’s Real Ice Cream is its opening, which takes place on Friday (June 25) at its new 27048 Lorain Road location in North Olmsted.
“We’re really excited,” said Dr. Ramez Assad, who co-owns the ice cream store with North Olmsted native Tiger Najjar. “This has been a while in the making. We were hoping to open last month. There were material delays due to COVID. The community seems to be really excited.
“As we’ve been in there working, people have been coming through the drive-thru thinking we’re open. So we’re ready to finally get the show on the road. The only real challenge at this point is going to being able to control the traffic. It’s something we’ll have to figure out as we go.”
The completely renovated roughly 3,000-square-foot building, which was formerly a Firehouse Subs, boasts inside seating, patio tables, benches and roll-up garage doors.
Based in Bridgewater, Pa., Bruster’s Real Ice Cream — which boasts a tagline of “A Scoop Above The Rest” — has nearly 200 independently-owned locations in 22 states, Guyana and South Korea.
Assad described Bruster’s Ice Cream as a “cow-to-cone” operation considering the use of fresh dairy delivered daily.
